The Federal Government of Nigeria has applauded the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. The agreement brings hope for an end to the devastating loss of civilian life and human tragedy in Gaza over the past 15 months.
Nigeria has also welcomed the supply of much-needed aid and relief materials facilitated by the peace deal. The ceasefire presents an opportunity for hope and compassion in the region.
The government has praised Egypt, Qatar, and the United States for their roles in negotiating the agreement and has urged all stakeholders to work towards the successful implementation of the agreement’s second and third phases.
Nigeria has reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution as the key to a just and lasting peace for Palestine, Israel, and the entire region. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for international guarantors to ensure the agreement’s success.
