A man, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, described as a gospel musician has been arrested in Orozo, a community on the outskirts of Abuja, after being found with a decapitated head in a black nylon bag during a church service.
According to eyewitnesses, Ajayi’s suspicious behaviour was first noticed by a church member, Brother Victor, who saw him moving near a nearby river. When confronted, Ajayi threw the bag into the river, claiming it contained nothing.
However, two motorcyclists who arrived at the scene revealed that they had transported Ajayi from a neighbouring town and had noticed blood dripping from the bag. Ajayi was eventually caught after a chase into a nearby bush.
When the bag was opened, it was found to contain the severed head of a young woman, later identified as Ajayi’s girlfriend. Ajayi confessed to killing his girlfriend after a dispute over her phone, claiming she attacked him with a knife.
Ajayi alleged that a woman instructed him to bring the head to her, but this claim has not been verified. Police officers took Ajayi and the decapitated head away, and an investigation is ongoing.
