Zamfara State Government Commends Military’s Anti-Banditry Efforts

The Zamfara State Government has praised the Nigerian military’s renewed onslaught against bandits in the state. In a statement, Governor Dauda Lawal’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, commended the Nigerian Air Force’s successful airstrike over the weekend, which targeted bandits attacking villages in Zurmi and Maradun local government areas.

The government expressed deep condolences to the families of civilian casualties resulting from the airstrike at Tungar Kara in Zurmi LGA. The civilian casualties were members of the local vigilante who were mistakenly identified as bandits fleeing from Gidan Makera in the Boko district of Zurmi LGA.

The military intervention has significantly degraded the operational capacity of the bandits, demonstrating the Nigeria Air Force’s commitment to protecting civilians and safeguarding lives and property. The state government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to sustain their operations and bring lasting peace to the state.

The government also extended condolences to the families of fallen members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) and local vigilantes, assuring them that their sacrifices would not go in vain. The government will provide necessary support and assistance to the bereaved families.
