Barcelona clinched the Spanish Super Cup with a resounding 5-2 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia. Kylian Mbappe’s opener was cancelled out by Lamine Yamal’s stunning equalizer, before Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde scored to put Barcelona in command.
Despite being reduced to 10 men after Wojciech Szczesny’s red card, Barcelona held on to secure the trophy. Rodrygo Goes pulled one back for Madrid with a free-kick, but it was too little, too late for the European champions.
The match was marked by impressive individual displays from Yamal and Mbappe, with the latter denied a second goal by a superb save from Inaki Pena in stoppage time. Barcelona’s victory marks the first trophy of the Hansi Flick era.
