EFCC Detains 10 Lagos Officers Over Theft Allegations

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command over allegations of theft. The officers, arrested last week, are being investigated for their roles in the disappearance of operational items.

According to the EFCC, the arrest is part of an ongoing internal investigation aimed at maintaining transparency and integrity within the agency. The commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordered the arrest as part of a broader initiative to address corrupt practices and unethical behaviour among personnel.

The detained officers are currently being questioned about their inability to account for the missing items, which were reportedly under their watch. This development comes after the EFCC dismissed 27 officers on Monday for fraudulent activities and misconduct.

The EFCC has assured that investigators are making progress and those found culpable will face internal disciplinary action.
