Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has arrived in Nigeria, marking a significant visit aimed at bolstering bilateral ties between China and Nigeria. Mr. Wang Yi was warmly received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other top government officials, including Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Yu Dunhai.
The two-day visit, scheduled for January 8-9, 2025, is expected to deepen diplomatic ties, promote mutual understanding, and explore new avenues for collaboration. Wang Yi will hold high-level talks with government officials, discussing pressing global issues, regional security, and economic development.
This visit underscores China’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with Nigeria, driving growth, and promoting peace and stability in the region. As part of his visit, Wang Yi will meet with the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, and pay a courtesy call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to deliver a special message from the Chinese President.
The visit is seen as a strategic move to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in key areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure development.
