A wedding celebration in Jigawa State turned deadly after the bride allegedly poisoned the food served at the reception, leaving one guest dead and the groom critically ill. The incident occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area of the state.
According to eyewitnesses, the bride’s actions may have been driven by a personal vendetta. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.
The police have arrested two suspects, the bride and another female, who are currently in custody and being interrogated. The police spokesperson assured that “we will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served”.
All wedding attendants who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for the one person who was confirmed dead. The authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased, the groom, and other victims.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have urged the public to remain calm, assuring that justice will be served
