The First Lady of Kogi State, Sefinat Ododo has reaffirmed her dedication to women empowerment, access to healthcare, education, and the fight against drug abuse. In her New Year message, Mrs. Ododo emphasized the importance of empowering women, pledging to advance initiatives that provide economic and social opportunities for women in Kogi State.
Mrs. Ododo expressed gratitude to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her impact on the lives of Nigerian women through the “Renewed Hope Initiative”. The initiative has uplifted women in Kogi State by providing tools for economic growth and capacity building.
During the New Year festivities, Mrs. Ododo engaged in various activities, including healthcare interventions, support for families, and advocacy against drug abuse. She distributed antenatal kits, medical supplies, and cash to over 120 patients, easing the financial burdens on families during the festive season.
Mrs. Ododo visited key medical facilities, advising women to prioritize their health and urging healthcare workers to maintain professionalism and diligence to save lives. She also emphasized the importance of family unity and the role of mothers as homemakers, imploring women to support their husbands and raise children in a secure and disciplined environment.
The First Lady appealed for continued support for her husband, Governor Ahmed Ododo, to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi State. Patients and families expressed appreciation for Mrs. Ododo’s generosity and compassion, describing her outreach as a timely intervention that has brought relief to struggling households.
Mrs. Ododo highlighted the alarming impact of drug abuse among youths, urging stakeholders and parents to take proactive measures to curb the menace. She called on women to actively monitor and engage with their children, saying, “Drug abuse is tearing apart our future generation, and as mothers, we must rise to the challenge.”
