The Nigerian Police Force has arrested some officers attached to the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly demanding money from the family of a missing seven-year-old girl before taking action on the case. This was disclosed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on his X handle on Saturday.
The officers, whose identities have not been revealed, are being held in detention for disciplinary action. Adejobi condemned the act, stating that it is “inhuman, apathetic, and unprofessional”.
The case involves a seven-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by one of her mother’s regular customers in Ogun State. The mother was asked to pay ₦10,000 to file the case and an additional ₦30,000 to track the suspect’s phone number.
Mr. Adejobi reassured the public that the police are committed to finding the missing girl and bringing the perpetrator to justice. He urged the family of the victim to cooperate with the police, stating that the girl will be found as soon as possible
