Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to the government and people of India following the passing of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
Dr Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, died on Thursday at the age of 92.
President Tinubu praised Dr Singh’s efforts in strengthening Nigeria-India relations, particularly during his historic visit to Nigeria in 2007.
The President highlighted the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between Nigeria and India under Dr Singh’s tenure, which has driven political and economic prosperity for both countries.
President Tinubu also lauded Dr Singh’s efforts to forge improved cooperation in defence trade, culture, education, health, science and technology and ICT.
He expressed gratitude to the people of India for celebrating the life and accomplishments of the selfless leader and distinguished economist.
President Tinubu prayed that Dr Singh’s dedication to service will inspire the people of India.
