Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has paid tribute to renowned journalist Hajia Rafatu Salami, who passed away on Friday in Abuja. Salami, a National Treasurer of the International Press Institute (IPI Nigeria), was a respected figure in Nigerian journalism.
Governor Ododo extended his condolences to Salami’s family, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the International Press Institute (IPI), and her colleagues at the Voice of Nigeria (VON), where she worked as an Assistant Director, Digital Media.
The Governor praised Salami’s remarkable legacy, highlighting her courage, compassion, and dedication to public service. He prayed for her soul to rest in peace and for her family to find strength during this difficult time.
Salami, who hailed from Kogi State, was buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites. She was 55 years old.
