Netflix to Stream 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups

Netflix has secured the rights to show live coverage of the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups in the United States.

The deal, announced by FIFA on Friday, marks the streaming giant’s first acquisition of full live rights to a sports competition.

“As a marquee brand and FIFA’s new long-term partner, Netflix has shown a very strong level of commitment to growing women’s football,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The 2027 World Cup will be held in Brazil. The host of the 2031 tournament has not yet been confirmed.

Netflix has recently ventured into live sports broadcasting, including the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match and upcoming NFL Christmas Day games.

While the 2023 Women’s World Cup was widely available on free-to-air television in the UK, it remains to be seen how future tournaments will be broadcast.
