Former Kogi Governor Released on Bail

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has been released from Kuje Custodial Centre after meeting the bail conditions set by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Mr. Bello was granted bail on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the sum of N500 million. As part of the bail conditions, he was required to provide three sureties who own property in high-value areas of Abuja and surrender his passport.

The former governor and two others are facing charges of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and unlawful possession of property, brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr. Bello’s release follows his plea of not guilty to the charges.
