Nigeria’s Electoral Commission Recognises Ezeokenwa as APGA Chairman

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognised Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), following a Supreme Court judgement.

The Supreme Court judgement, delivered on 27 November 2024, resolved the protracted leadership dispute in the party, affirming Ezeokenwa as the authentic National Chairman.

In compliance with the judgement, INEC in a statement by its National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity, Sam Olumekun has restored Ezeokenwa’s name as the Chairman of APGA on its website. The Commission met on Tuesday to discuss the leadership issue, among other matters.

The APGA leadership dispute had been the subject of litigation, with Edozie Njoku laying claim to the chairmanship. However, the Supreme Court held that Mr. Njoku wrongly claimed the APGA chairmanship and that its earlier judgement did not confer on him any enforceable rights
