Cargo Plane Skids Off Runway at Abuja Airport

A cargo plane has skidded off the runway at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. The Allied Air Cargo aircraft, with registration number 5N-JRT, suffered a tyre burst upon landing, causing it to veer off the runway.

All five people on board were safely evacuated and taken to the airport’s clinic for medical checks. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The incident occurred at 10:05 am local time on Wednesday, and the airport’s emergency response team is currently working to clear the runway. The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has temporarily shut down the runway, causing disruptions to flight schedules.

FAAN has assured the public that the runway will reopen as soon as possible.
