Kogi State First Lady Calls for Collective Action Against Gender-Based Violence

The wife of the Kogi State Governor, Sefinat Ododo, has urged Nigerians to work together to tackle the root causes of gender-based violence. Mrs Ododo made the call during a programme at the Government House in Lokoja, organised to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. She emphasized the need for family values like love, tolerance, and mutual respect to be promoted, and for men to respect their spouses.

Mrs Ododo also promised to work with non-governmental organisations, government ministries and agencies to fight gender-based violence. She encouraged women and girls to acquire knowledge and skills to become empowered and self-reliant, saying the campaign against gender-based violence needs to be taken to the grassroots.The Kogi State First Lady applauded the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her support in ensuring the elimination of violence against women in Kogi State.
