Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has proposed legislation on the state’s 32-year development plan, spanning from 2024 to 2056.
This move aims to ensure continuity and consolidation of ongoing development projects in infrastructure, human capital development, and other areas.
The proposed legislation is part of the state’s efforts to transform Kogi into a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable economy. The 32-year development plan is anchored on three pillars: fostering prosperity, building resilience, and providing direction for sustainable development.
In addition to the proposed legislation, Governor Ododo has presented the 2025 budget proposal to the Kogi State House of Assembly. The proposed budget stands at N584,404,119,489, with 51.99% allocated for capital expenditure and 48.01% for recurrent expenditure. The budget proposal is designed to improve the quality of education, healthcare, food security, trade, and commerce, while also creating opportunities for youth development and improving road networks.
The key goals of the 2025 budget include boosting internally generated revenue, pursuing debt repayment, and fostering a conducive business environment.
