Nigerian Court Orders Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello to be Remanded in EFCC Custody

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Justice Maryanne Anenih made the ruling on Wednesday, also adjourning the case until December 10, 2024, to decide on Bello’s bail application.

Bello, along with two others – Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu – faces 16 counts of alleged fraud, brought by the EFCC.

The charges include conspiracy to commit an offence and criminal breach of trust, amounting to N110.4 billion. Bello had previously been declared wanted by the EFCC for alleged money laundering charges
