A DHL cargo plane has crashed near Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania, killing one of the four crew members on board. The plane, which was flying from Germany to Lithuania, crashed just a few kilometres from the airport, according to Renatas Pozela, the head of the firefighting and emergency services unit.
A house in the area caught fire during the crash, but everyone inside was evacuated safely, said Vilmantas Vitkauskas, the National Crisis Management Centre head. The cause of the crash is not yet clear.
DHL has confirmed that the plane belonged to the company, and an investigation into the incident is underway. Vilnius International Airport, which serves as a hub for airBaltic and Wizz Air, has experienced some disruptions due to the crash, but it is expected to resume normal operations soon
