Manchester United Held to Frustrating Draw at Ipswich

Manchester United’s new era under Ruben Amorim got off to a stuttering start as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town. Marcus Rashford’s early opener was cancelled out by Omari Hutchinson’s equaliser before the break, leaving United to settle for a point.

Rashford’s fifth goal of the season came after just 81 seconds, as he converted Amad Diallo’s low cross to end his eight-game barren streak in all competitions. However, Ipswich grew into the game and created several chances, only to be denied by the outstanding form of United keeper Andre Onana.

Onana made two stunning saves to deny Liam Delap, and Ipswich’s pressure eventually paid off when Hutchinson’s curling shot flicked off Noussair Mazraoui’s head and over Onana for his first goal since joining Ipswich permanently in a £20m summer move.

United struggled to contain Ipswich at times, and despite skipper Bruno Fernandes flashing a late free-kick wide, the visitors were unable to find a winner. Ipswich fully deserved their point, and without Onana’s heroics, they may have taken all three.

The result leaves United in the bottom half of the Premier League after 12 games, while Ipswich remain in the relegation zone, behind Wolves on goal difference. Amorim’s side will look to bounce back from this frustrating draw when they face their next challenge.
