The Nigerian government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving security in the South-East region, with Defence Minister Mohammed Abubakar assuring the public of enhanced security measures. During an operational visit to Enugu, the Minister emphasized the importance of a secure environment for business growth and prosperity. He acknowledged the entrepreneurial spirit of the South-East populace, stating that security and peace are essential for businesses to thrive.
Mr. Abubakar also engaged with key stakeholders, including heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders, to discuss collaborative strategies for addressing current security challenges.
The Nigerian Army has implemented robust strategies to ensure a safe and secure environment for the upcoming festive season, according to Major General Hassan Dada, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division/Joint Task Force South-East Operation Udo Ka. Retired Major General John Nwoga highlighted the role of social media in exacerbating insecurity, emphasizing the need for collective action against misleading information and fake news.
A statement signed by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence says the Minister’s visit to Imo State was part of his operational tour of the South-East region, where he expressed President Bola Tinubu’s message to the troops and thanked Governor Hope Uzodimma for his support to the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army.
