Ondo State Governor-elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Adelami Olayide, have received their certificates of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The presentation took place in Abuja on Wednesday, courtesy of Supervisory National Commissioner of Ondo State, Prof. Kunle Ajayi.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo State for re-electing him, acknowledging the renewed mandate as a call to serve the state better. He also commended President Bola Tinubu for ensuring a level playing field for all parties and praised INEC for conducting a free, fair, and transparent election.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory was decisive, winning all 18 local government areas with 366,781 votes, significantly ahead of his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 117,845 votes.
Despite the convincing win, Mr. Ajayi has opted to contest the outcome at the election petition tribunal. The electoral process has sparked varied reactions, with some leaders, like Umar Ganduje, emphasizing the election’s integrity and independence from external influences.

- Winner: Lucky Aiyedatiwa (APC) – 366,781 votes
- Runner-up: Agboola Ajayi (PDP) – 117,845 votes
