Nigeria’s Defence Minister Urges Airforce to Intensify Fight Against Banditry, Terrorism

Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Mohammed Abubakar, has called on the Nigerian Airforce to ramp up their efforts in combating banditry and terrorism, emphasizing that they are crucial to ending the war. During his operational visit to the Air Component Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Katsina State on November 18, 2024, Abubakar commended the Air warriors for their bravery, resilience, and hope-inspiring actions.

Appreciation for Air Warriors: Abubakar praised the heroic Air warriors for their tireless efforts, which have yielded positive results, including farmers returning to their farms, schools reopening, and businesses picking up.

Presidential Support: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence in the Airforce’s loyalty, perseverance, and professionalism, recognizing their daily sacrifices to keep the country together.

Enhanced Attack Capabilities: The President has provided the Airforce with state-of-the-art aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles, including the T129 Attack Helicopter, to boost their combat capabilities.

Call to Action: Abubakar urged the Airforce to synergize with ground forces and stakeholders to maximize the impact of these combat enablers.

Abubakar’s visit also included an inspection of combat readiness in Sokoto and a tour of the new site for the Airforce component of military operations against banditry and terrorism at Sokoto Airport.

Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, praised the Minister’s leadership style and expressed confidence that the T129 Attack Helicopters will transform their operational capabilities.
