Nigerian Army Foils Kidnapping Operation, Arrests 12 Suspects in Taraba

A daring rescue operation by the Nigerian Army has resulted in the arrest of 12 suspected kidnappers in Taraba State. The kidnappers were apprehended after a distress call from residents of Chachanji village, who reported the abduction of two individuals by a group of around 10 armed men on motorcycles on November 7.

Key Items Recovered

  • 14 motorcycles
  • Two bags of Indian hemp
  • A locally made pistol

The army’s superior firepower forced the kidnappers to retreat, leaving behind their pistol and Indian hemp. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the 12 suspects and seizure of the motorcycles at a local drinking joint in Mbhakyir village on November 9th.

Investigation Reveals Notorious Leader

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of the kidnapping operation and identified their leader as Veior John Gata, a notorious terrorist wanted for orchestrating criminal activities in southern Taraba and Benue states. This breakthrough is a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping and terrorism in the region.
