Nigeria’s NNPC Denies Selling Adulterated Fuel

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has denied accusations of selling substandard fuel, refuting a video circulating online.

The video allegedly showed a person pouring a dark liquid said to be premium motor spirit (PMS) bought from an NNPC Retail outlet at Keffi Flyover.

However, NNPC Ltd said it conducted spot checks at all its outlets and found the claim to be false.

“The product was not and could not have been bought from any NNPC Retail outlet as we do not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans,” the company said.

NNPC Retail Ltd emphasized its commitment to quality control measures, ensuring only high-quality, safe, and reliable petroleum products are available at its stations nationwide.

The company warned the public to disregard the “spurious claims” and be cautious of “selfish and unpatriotic elements” spreading false narratives.

NNPC Ltd also highlighted its rigorous pump integrity checks, with regular inspections and calibration to ensure consistency across its stations.

The denial comes amid concerns over fuel quality and distribution in Nigeria.
