Nigeria’s Defence Minister Orders Military Protection for Electricity Tower Repairs

The Defence Minister, Mohammed Abubakar, has directed the Chief of Defence Staff to provide security for electricity tower repairs, following President Bola Tinubu’s concerns over the recent grid collapse. The collapse, caused by third-party interference, resulted in widespread power outages across Northern Nigeria, disrupting citizens’ lives.

A statement signed by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations said to prevent further interference from non-state actors, the Minister has ordered adequate security for workers repairing this critical infrastructure. The goal is to prioritize repairs and ensure the grid’s functionality for all citizens.

The Minister urges Nigerians, especially those in affected states, to remain patient and understanding as efforts are underway to address the situation.
