Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima will no longer attend the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa after his plane was damaged during a stopover at New York’s JFK Airport. A foreign object hit the cockpit windscreen, rendering the aircraft unusable.
New Representation
President Bola Tinubu has swiftly appointed a ministerial delegation, led by Minister of Environment Balarabe Abass Lawal, to represent Nigeria at the summit in Apia, Samoa. The delegation will ensure Nigeria’s interests are represented at the meeting.
CHOGM 2024
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2024, themed “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth,” aims to promote multilateral cooperation and address global challenges. The event, hosted by Samoa from October 21-26, brings together leaders from 56 Commonwealth nations.
