Nigeria’s President Tinubu Appoints Seven New Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a significant cabinet reshuffle, appointing seven new ministers to his administration. The changes aim to “reinvigorate the administration’s capacity for optimal efficiency” and deliver on his promises to Nigerians.

New Ministerial Appointments:

  • Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
  • Jumoke Oduwole: Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment
  • Maigari Dingyadi: Minister of Labour and Employment
  • Idi Maiha: Minister for Livestock Development Ministry
  • Yusuf Ata: Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development
  • Suwaiba Ahmad: Minister of State for Education
  • Dr. Nentawe Yilwada: Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction

The reshuffle also saw the removal of five ministers, including Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Lola Ade-John, Tahir Mamman, Abdullahi Gwarzo, and Jamila Ibrahim. Additionally, ten ministers were reassigned to new portfolios.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafra leader Odumegwu Ojukwu, previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and Spain. Jumoke Oduwole was Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC & Investment before her nomination.

This cabinet overhaul comes over a year into President Tinubu’s administration, signalling his commitment to refining his government’s structure for improved efficiency.
