Defence Minister Mohammed Abubakar has convened an emergency meeting with Plateau State stakeholders to address escalating security concerns.
The high-stakes gathering brought together critical stakeholders, opinion leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, and local government chairmen from Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Wase, and Bassa.
Minister Badaru commended security personnel for their tireless efforts in combating insecurity, citing significant progress in retrieving weapons and dismantling local arms-producing factories.
However, he cautioned that more needs to be done, identifying negligence, criminal exploitation, and ethno-religious tensions as key factors perpetuating the crisis.
“To restore lasting peace, we must address these underlying issues through community engagement, credible intelligence, and collective action,” Badaru emphasized.
The Minister assured that the Federal Government is committed to deploying all necessary assets to ensure citizens’ safety and security.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Brig. Gen. Gakji Shipi, expressed optimism about the stakeholders’ engagement outcomes and pledged continued support for the Nigerian Military.
