Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Police Command Cracks Down on Kidnapping Gang

The FCT Police Command has made significant strides in its fight against bandits and kidnappers, arresting key suspects involved in various armed robbery and kidnapping attacks in the region.

Key Suspects Apprehended

Hussaini Ori (aka Mugu), 27, from Gwagwalada, FCT- Ya’u Adamu, 28, from Mpape village, FCT- Aminu Adamu, 24, from Gidan Waya village, Kaduna state.

These suspects are allegedly members of a notorious kidnapping gang led by the late Gwan Umaru, based in Kweri Forest, Kaduna state.

Kidnapping Operations:

The gang is linked to several high-profile kidnappings, including:- The kidnapping of Pastor Enoch Maisamari from ECWA pastors’ quarters in Dnapoyi village, Bwari Area Council, on May 3, 2024- The kidnapping of Dimas Maisamari in Mpape village, with a ransom of N1.5 million paid- The kidnapping of Naomi Barnabas, held for three days, with a ransom of N450,000 paid- The kidnapping of four individuals in Daupe Village, Tafa LGA, Niger State, on July 1, 2024, with a ransom of approximately N80 million paid.

Exhibits Recovered:

Two AK 47 rifles- 85 rounds of live 7.62 ammunition- Three AK 47 magazines- One locally-made gun.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu confirmed that efforts are ongoing to arrest additional gang members and recover more arms and ammunition.
