Nigeria Seeks Transport Revamp at Global Summit

Nigeria’s Transportation Minister, Senator Said Alkali, is leading a delegation to the International Road Federation World Congress, amid efforts to overhaul the country’s transport sector.

The minister held talks with IRF President Dimitris Mandalozis on potential collaboration in research and technology transfer.

Nigeria has also confirmed its participation in February’s 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Morocco.

This comes as Nigeria implements its National Road Safety Strategy, aiming to halve road deaths by 2030.

Analysis:

Nigeria’s transport sector has faced criticism for inadequate infrastructure and safety concerns. The government’s engagement with global experts and commitment to road safety targets signals a renewed focus on addressing these issues.
