The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Anambra State governorship election will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu made the announcement during a meeting with political party representatives at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
“The last governorship election in Anambra State was held on November 6, 2021,” Prof Yakubu explained. “As required by law, the next election is due in 2025.”
Key dates for the election include:
- Formal notice publication: November 13, 2024
- Party primaries: March 20 – April 10, 2025
- Candidate nomination portal open: April 18 – May 12, 2025
- Final candidate list publication: June 9, 2025
- Campaign period: June 11 – November 6, 2025
