NASENI Trains Procurement Officers on Global Best Practices

Nigeria’s National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is set to host a three-day procurement training program for its officers, aimed at enhancing their skills and aligning with global best practices.

Training Objectives
The program, scheduled to take place from October 8-10, 2024, at NASENI Headquarters, seeks to:

  • Build capacity of procurement officers and relevant staff
  • Ensure adherence to the 2007 Procurement Act and Manual
  • Equip officers with knowledge on global procurement practices

Keynote Speakers
Notable figures, including NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Khalil Halilu, and Olusegun Omotola, Ag. Director General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Procurement, will deliver the keynote address and declare the training open, respectively.

Training Highlights
Some of the topics to be covered include:

  • Effective Procurement Practices & PPA, 2007
  • Procurement Planning
  • Procurement Record Keeping Procedures
  • Contract Agreement and Implications

According to Mohammed Mohammed, Director of Procurement, the training is tailored to NASENI’s unique needs, considering 75-80% of its activities are based on science and engineering. He emphasized the importance of continuous capacity building, citing the need to adapt to changing global technologies and practices.

The training will feature resource persons from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), with whom NASENI has a partnership to enhance procurement capacity
