Nigeria’s Defence Ministry Boosts Efficiency with New Initiatives

The Permanent Secretary of Defence, Ibrahim Kana, has launched the Performance Management System (PMS) and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) core teams. This move aims to enhance the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) operational efficiency and effectiveness.

At the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, Mr. Kana expressed confidence in the Ministry’s infrastructure and human resources to drive the initiatives forward. “We have experts in the Ministry who can drive the process,” he assured, highlighting the presence of experienced Directors and Deputy Directors.

Mr. Kana urged the PMS Champions to demonstrate unwavering commitment, excellence, and resilience in overcoming initial challenges. He emphasized the importance of continuous training, stating, “In MOD, training is not going to be an issue. We can afford to organize training on PMS and ECM every week.”

Key Objectives:

  • Enhance efficiency and productivity across the Ministry
  • Ensure accountability and compliance with government performance standards
  • Drive service delivery and achieve set targets aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda

The PMS and ECM Champions are expected to lead the charge in achieving these objectives. With the Ministry’s commitment to training and expertise, the new initiatives are poised to make a significant impact on Nigeria’s defence sector.
