Greening the Future: Eki Co-Net Partners with FG, University of Abuja for Massive Tree Planting

Nigeria took a significant step towards environmental sustainability with a recent tree planting exercise at the University of Abuja. Minister of Environment Iziaq Adekunle Salako led the symbolic planting of economic trees, commending Eki Co-Net for their initiative, which aligns with the ministry’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2060.

The event was part of Eki Co-Net’s larger plan to plant millions of trees across Nigeria. CEO Godwin Omage emphasized the company’s passion for environmental sustainability, highlighting tree planting as a crucial step towards a sustainable planet. The University of Abuja was chosen for its ability to care for the trees, leveraging student ambassadors.

Dr. Jimoh Yusuf, Head of the Department of Estate, Urban and Regional Planning, praised the partnership with Eki Co-Net, citing shared visions for environmental sustainability. Emmanuel Joshua, Managing Director of Danga Homes, also expressed support, noting his company’s commitment to maintaining green areas in their estates.

The event yielded tangible benefits, with three students receiving scholarships sponsored by Eki Co-Net. This collaborative effort demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability
