Palestine Ambassador Decries “Televised Genocide” in Gaza, Citing 41,467 Martyred and 95,921 Injured

Abdullah Abu Shawesh, Ambassador of the Embassy of the State of Palestine, has condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, describing it as a “horrific and televised genocide” committed by Israel with the support of the United States and other Western countries.

As of September 24, the ambassador reported:

  • Gaza: 41,467 Palestinians martyred and 95,921 injured
  • West Bank: 717 Palestinians martyred, including 160 children, 10 women, and 9 elderly individuals
  • UNRWA Staff: 222 killed
  • Detained Palestinians: 10,600 in Israeli prisons and concentration camps, including 17 parliamentary members, 100 university students, 8,872 individuals subject to arbitrary administrative detention, 735 children, and 410 women

The ambassador expressed concern about the spread of diseases like scabies due to unsanitary conditions and lack of medical care in Israeli prisons. He called on the Red Cross and international organizations to pressure Israel to open its prisons for visits and ensure Palestinian detainees are treated according to international law.

Additionally, Abu Shawesh criticized the Red Cross for delivering 88 unidentified bodies from Gaza, urging them to fulfill their duties in accordance with international protocols.

The ambassador thanked Nigeria’s government and people for supporting Palestine’s right to freedom and independence at the United Nations General Assembly, specifically acknowledging Vice President Kashim Shettima’s endorsement of the two-state solution.

“In July 2024 alone, 21 strikes on schools serving as shelters were recorded across the Gaza Strip, killing over 270 people and injuring dozens. This war has robbed every boy and girl in Gaza of their childhood and education. More than 625,000 students have been out of learning since the war began.”

Palestine’s tragedy serves as a global litmus test, Abu Shawesh emphasized
