Nigeria Increases Corps Members’ Allowance to N77,000

Nigeria’s Federal Government has approved a monthly allowance increase for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to N77,000, effective July 2024.

The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission confirmed the rise in a letter dated September 25, 2024, following the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

Previous Allowance

Corps members previously received N33,000 monthly, after the 2019 minimum wage increase to N30,000.

New Minimum Wage Law

President Bola Tinubu signed the new Minimum Wage Bill into law on July 29, 2024, setting the minimum wage at N70,000.

NYSC Reaction

NYSC Director General Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed thanked the government, saying the increase will boost corps members’ morale and motivation to serve the nation.
