Oredo LG Result: APC Beats PDP in Obaseki’s Backyard

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has suffered a setback in the governorship election, losing Oredo Local Government Area to the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s results announced on Sunday in Benin City, APC’s Senator Monday Okpebholo secured 30,780 votes, while PDP’s Asue Ighodalo, who is Obaseki’s anointed candidate, garnered 24,938 votes.

The Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata trailed behind with 5,389 votes.

This development comes as a surprise, given Mr. Obaseki’s efforts to promote economic growth and development in the state, including initiatives such as the Edo Basic Education Transformation programme and the Edo State Investment Promotion Office.

However, the APC’s victory in Oredo Local Government Area indicates a strong challenge to the PDP’s dominance in the region.
