INEC Extends Voting Time in Affected Areas of Edo Governorship Election

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is monitoring the ongoing governorship election in Edo State from its situation room in Abuja.

A statement signed by Mohammed Haruna, National Commissioner & Member, Information and Voter Education Committee says while polls commenced early in many areas, reports indicate late starts in some locations.

Voting Extension

To prevent disenfranchisement, INEC has reiterated that voting will be extended wherever it commenced late. Polling will continue until the last voter on the queue, who arrived by 2:30 pm, has cast their ballot.

Logistical Support

INEC’s Edo State office has been instructed to ensure adequate power supply from backup generators in affected polling units or ward collation centers.
