Nigeria’s Ondo State Cracks Down on Unlicensed Security Outfits

The Attorney General of Ondo State in South West Nigeria, Olukayode Ajulo, has strongly condemned the growing presence of unlicensed security outfits in the state. Speaking at a community policing summit in Abuja, Dr. Ajulo who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria highlighted the illegal activities of these groups, particularly their recruitment of undesirable individuals by some estate owners.

Mr. Ajulo praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s efforts to prioritize citizen security, noting the provision of security vehicles and equipment to law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that Nigeria’s laws regulating security outfits are clear and any violations pose a significant threat to public safety.

The Attorney General expressed concern over reports of harassment by these unlicensed groups and urged law enforcement to take swift action. “When laws exist, they must be followed,” he stated. “Infringement must be met with enforcement and penalties to uphold the rule of law.” Mr. Ajulo reassured the public, saying, “The government’s powers and structures are in place to maintain order and security.”

Key Points:

  • Unlicensed Security Outfits: Operating illegally in Ondo State
  • Governor’s Support: Providing security vehicles and equipment to law enforcement
  • Call to Action: Stakeholders must work together to address the issue
  • Public Safety: Violations pose a significant threat to public safety

Mr. Ajulo’s stance aims to create a safer environment for Ondo State residents.
