Lebanon on High Alert After Mysterious Explosions Target Electronic Devices

Lebanon is reeling after thousands of electronic devices exploded across the country over two days, leaving scores dead and injured.

“We don’t know if we can stay next to our laptops, our phones,” a worried Lebanese woman told the BBC.

On Tuesday, thousands of pagers suddenly exploded, followed by hundreds of walkie-talkies blowing up on Wednesday. Multiple sources suggest Israel’s Mossad spy agency targeted Hezbollah members.

The walkie-talkie blasts killed 20 people and injured at least 450, while the pager explosions claimed 12 lives and injured over 2,000.

Israel has declined to comment on the incidents, but Defence Minister Yoav Gallant announced “a new phase in the war” on Wednesday.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is expected to deliver a televised address later, amid heightened tensions.
