Nigeria has launched a major innovation challenge aimed at harnessing the power of technology to improve the country’s infrastructure.
The Digital Nigeria Innovation Challenge, which runs until October 23, 2024, invites teams of innovators to create digital maps of key infrastructure across the country, including healthcare facilities, schools, roads, and utilities.
The challenge is part of the Nigerian government’s efforts to drive economic growth and development through technology and innovation.
Organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the competition is open to participants from all over Nigeria and will take place in three stages: state level, regional level, and national level.
The winning teams will receive cash prizes, with the national winner taking home the grand prize of Five Million Naira (approximately $12,000 USD).
According to Hadiza Umar, Director of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at NITDA, the challenge aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital skills among Nigerian youth and professionals, while also providing valuable insights into the country’s infrastructure needs.
By leveraging technology and creativity, Nigeria hopes to accelerate its development and create a more sustainable future for its citizens.
