Kano State Government Postpones School Resumption Indefinitely

The Kano State Government has announced the indefinite postponement of the resumption of primary and post-primary schools in the state. The decision was made due to “urgent reasons” that were not disclosed.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, Balarabe Kiru, on Saturday. According to the statement, the Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, said the decision was compelled by undisclosed “urgent reasons”.

The statement did not provide a new resumption date, but said one would be announced later. The postponement affects schools that were scheduled to resume on Monday, 9 September.

This decision follows a similar move by the Edo State Government, which also postponed school resumption indefinitely due to the recent increase in petrol prices and the challenges faced by parents and guardians.

The Kano State Government has appealed to students, parents, and guardians to bear with any inconveniences caused by the postponement.

No further information was provided on the reasons for the postponement or when a new resumption date would be announced.
