A former member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Jacob Kassam, has emphasized the critical role of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) in promoting education and health services in the ECOWAS region.
Speaking at the ECOWAS Parliament delocalized meeting, Mr. Kassam noted that ICTs have revolutionized health education and services, citing the surge in telemedicine research outputs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He highlighted the growth of health-tech startups and investments in African health technology, stressing the impact of ICTs in sub-Saharan Africa.
Mr. Kassam’s paper examined the influence of telecommunications and information technology on health education and services in West Africa, identifying gaps and recommending measures to strengthen existing frameworks.
He emphasized the need for a comprehensive joint plan of action and the robust application of ICTs to enhance health education and services in the region.
