Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has won the 2023 Nigeria GovTech Awards for its exceptional service delivery in the public sector.
The company’s Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mele Kyari, also received the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer Award.
The awards were given by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), an agency under the Presidency, in recognition of NNPC’s efforts to digitalize its operations and improve efficiency.
The company’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP), which is hinged on digital automation, has been instrumental in mitigating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring the continued operation of the company.
Mr. Kyari has been a leading advocate for digital transformation in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. He has implemented a number of initiatives to automate NNPC’s operations, including the deployment of a new Key Performance Indicator Dashboard and the activation of Microsoft Enterprise Additional Licenses. These initiatives have resulted in significant cost savings and improved performance.
The BPSR commended Kyari’s leadership and NNPC’s commitment to digital transformation. The agency said that the awards were a testament to the company’s success in using technology to improve public service.
