The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria has arrested a 67-year-old drug trafficker, Chukwuemeka Clement, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
A statement signed by Femi Babafemi, Director , Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA Headquarters said Clement had ingested 100 wraps of cocaine, weighing 2.195kg, in an attempt to raise money to marry a new wife and start a new life after 30 years spent in Brazil, Ethiopia and Thailand.
On the same day, NDLEA operatives at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano intercepted a 45-year-old woman, Bilkisu Mohammed Bello, who had 52 wraps of cocaine weighing 767g.
The NDLEA also destroyed 10.38 tonnes of cannabis sativa covering over 4.152 hectares in James town, Ogunmakin, Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state.
In addition, two cannabis farms were destroyed in Orhiowon local government area of Edo state and one suspect was arrested in Gombe state with 50,000 capsules of tramadol.
