The Nigerian military has denied receiving a request to topple the democratic system of government in the country.
The denial comes after social media reports claimed that the military had been asked to take over the government.
The military said in a statement that it is “very comfortable with democracy” and remains loyal to the president, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The military said it is always willing and ready to defend the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The military also said that it has launched a manhunt for those behind the coup plot report.
