Nigeria’s Former Central bank chief a flight risk- lawyers tell court.

Nigeria’s Secret Service on Wednesday told a Federal Court that the country’s suspended Central Bank governor will flee the country if he is granted bail.

Godwin Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu and later detained by the Secret Service on Saturday, June 10, 2023.

When hearing of the case resumed on Tuesday, the Secret Service and the Attorney General of the Federation’s office made these arguments before the court.

The Attorney General of the Federation also supported the argument of the Secret Service, describing Mr. Emefiele as a “flight risk.”.

But the former head of the apex bank is challenging his detention by the DSS.
