The boss of Nigeria’s Data Protection Bureau, Vincent Olatunji, has been appointed to the Forbes Technology Council for 2023.
The invitation-only community is made up of world-class CIOs, CTOs and Technology Executives.
A statement by the Bureau’s Media Head, Itunu Dosekun said Dr. Olatunji’s appointment is a confirmation of Nigeria’s modest effort to ensure that the country is recognized among the global leaders in Data Protection compliance.
Dr. Olatunji holds a doctorate degree in Geography and Planning from the University of Lagos and is a Certified Public Private Partnership Specialist and a PECB Certified Data Protection Officer.

Prior to his appointment as the NDPB’s pioneer National Commissioner in February 2022, Dr. Olatunji worked as the Director of eGovernment Development and Regulations at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). He led a formidable team to deliver various initiatives on Nigeria’s digital transformation. As Nigeria’s Data Protection Ombudsman, Dr. Olatunji’s relentless efforts and expertise have propelled him to the forefront in shaping policies and frameworks that align with international standards, bolstering Nigeria’s and Africa’s position in the global data protection landscape.
