One of Nigeria’s Presidential Candidates in the last General Election, Dumebi Kachikwu has called on Nigeria’s new President Bola Tinubu to order an audit of the activities of the Country’s Central Bank.
His call came just days after the suspension of Nigeria’s Central Bank Chief, Godwin Emefiele.
Mr. Kachikwu also wants the country’s Petroleum Company and the Customs Services probed.
All of these came during his Democracy Day broadcast on Monday. He said the probe of the three institutions would not only unravel the level of abuse in the past few years but would also help the new administration to embark on reforms aimed at jump-starting the economy.
Many, including Mr. Kachikwu have welcomed the removal of petrol subsidies in Africa’s largest economy, but he questions the new administration’s failure to put in place measures to cushion the impact brought about by the hike in the pump price of petrol.
